Recovery and Support Disc Golf Group

Providing a Safe, Clean Environment for those in Recovery

“The symbolism behind the name is to escape any addictions or mental health issues that may be holding you back,”

Jay Pry, president.

“Breaking Chains has given me an opportunity to play and surround myself with others that have struggled with addiction. It has gave me a place where I am not judged. The group is there to help me become the best me through disc golf.”

Mike Cummings

As a recovering addict and alcoholic, I struggled every day to experience emotions like happiness or joy. I lived in a state of depression and misery. Finding sobriety was a journey I could not complete on my own. When I got clean and finally stopped using, I found myself unable to enjoy regular activities. I didn’t know how to feel or even act.

When I got involved in disc golf I slowly began to feel healthy emotions. As I began to meet new people in the community, I noticed that many others were dealing with comparable situations. When I reached out to the community asking for help, not only for myself but for anyone who might be struggling with addiction or mental health, I was overwhelmed by the support and involvement from everyone. People I knew, and people I didn’t know offered their support.

After a couple of cold days and brainstorming sessions, Breaking Chains was on its way to being established.
